***UPDATE***11/5/2020

It has been confirmed the body located at the forest preserve was Vanessa and the cause of death was strangulation. This has now been officially reported as a homicide. If you have any information please contact the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

***UPDATE 11/4/2020**

Law Enforcement and search and rescue returned to search November 2, 2020 at the Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve when about 1PM a body was in fact located. Our deepest condolences to Vanessa's family and loved ones.

The family reported to us that they had to meet the medical examiner on 11/5/2020 for body identification, however, The Patch, Sun Times and other news media outlets reported that the medical examiner confirmed the identity was Vanessa.

Rumors continue circulating, however, the cause of death is still unknown and the death investigation continues with the Midlothian Police and Cook County Sheriff's Office.

Vanessa was reportedly missing November 2, 2020. Her mother reported to us that Vanessa was walking with the mother, and the mother's friend in the Forest Preserve to go for a walk. About 4PM Vanessa told her mom it was too far to walk and said she was heading back to the car. The mother said that when her and her friend got back to the car, Vanessa was nowhere to be found. She said all of Vanessa's belongings were back at the house, other than her phone. During the walk Vanessa posted the above center SnapChat photo on social media. That was in fact the last picture she took of herself moments before her disappearance.

Vanessa seemed in good spirits and had no reason to disappear. Her mental health issues however could have prompted to become disoriented (as she has in the past) and lose her way, not knowing where she was or where she was headed.

Her phone hadn't had any other calls as of the disappearance

May you rest in peace dear Vanessa
