Sanaa Amenhotep was fifteen when she was kidnapped and later found murdered. Sanaa was an anti-violence activist from Newark, New Jersey.
Her family reported that her phone and Instagram was off. 'My daughter calls me at least twice a week,” Sharif Amenhotep said. “She doesn’t go a week without calling me. We have a close relationship.”
Three people were charged in her kidnapping and murder. Two of them were teenagers. All three of them claimed to be Sanaa's friends. Police reported they believed her murder was 'gang related' but did not elaborate. Treveon Nelson and the two minors have been charged with murder, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
SUSPECTS
One of the male juveniles 17-year-old Jaylon Wilson was charged with kidnapping. A second suspect was being sought after, Teveon Nelson, 18, who was also believed to be involved in Sanaa's kidnapping.
