Rosa was last seen on September 22, 2022 leaving Franklin Park on her way to school at Eleanor Roosevelt High School about 7:40 a.m. in Greenbelt, Maryland. She was just a freshman in High School. Rosa was wearing blue ripped jeans, a black sweater, and black and white Crocs. She was never seen alive again.

The Prince George County Police Department reported her missing on October 11, 2022.

November 15, 2022, Rosa's skeletal remains were found in a wooded area just outside of Washington DC behind some homes near the 1600 block of Drexel Street in Takoma Park about 12:30 p.m, about 10 miles southwest of Greenbelt. Her death was listed as a homicide.

Rosa's parents have said that she had recently become involved with a local gang and had spent several days away from home. Rosa mentioned her own death stating, "'I’m so sorry mommy. Forgive me for making you suffer, for everything I’ve done to you.' Why? What’s wrong? 'No, mommy. Don’t cry when you find me dead somewhere. Don’t cry,'"
