Mishealia Marie Meredith was just 19 years old when she was last seen in Harrisburg, Illinois. She called her mother about 7:00 p.m. and said she was headed home. She was never seen alive again.
Mishealia's phone was found soon after, dumped on the ground near a bank in El Dorado, Illinois. Her family knew that she would never have let her phone be away from her side. All communication stopped. Searches became immediate by family and other searchers in the area, but nothing was located. Police never went to search, and did not immediately collect her phone after it was located.
March 14, 2021, Mishealia's body was located in a remote corn field in Gallatin County just a few miles from where her phone was located. The Illinois State Police took over the investigation. Suspect Alexander McWilliam, 36 of Harrisburg was on the run, listing him as 'armed and dangerous' in their press release. McWilliam was charged with First Degree Murder. About a week later, he was located in Union County, Kentucky at a Hometown Inn on on E. Waverly and eventually arrested after barricading himself in. The U.S. Marshals brought him in and was extradited back to Saline County, Illinois where he is awaiting trial.
Alexander McWilliam was Mishealia's boyfriend at the time of disappearance.
A witness testified that she was in the residence with McWilliam and Mishealia when he became upset at Meredith for allegedly rolling her eyes at him. He told Mishealia not to roll again. She denied rolling her eyes at him, and shortly after, he shot her in the head as she was sitting on the couch. McWilliam then threatened the witness to help him cover up the crime and dump Misheala's body or he would kill the witness.
TRIAL
As of August 2022, the waiting for a trial continues. Justice awaits.
We pray for Justice.
