Estrella Carrera, 26 Saturday, May 12, 2012 Chicago, Cook County, Illinois

Estrella Carrera was last seen about 2:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 12, 2012. She had gone with Arnoldo Jimenez to Chicago City to marry They had celebrated their secret wedding at a restaurant in Little Village, Chicago, in a limo and at a nightclub with friends and family. When her sisters attempts to contact Estrella had failed about 3:30 P.M. that day, she contacted the Burbank Police Department asking them to do a welfare check at her residence located on the 7800 block of South Rutherford Avenue around 3:30 P.M. Estrella was found in a bathtub stabbed to death in her apartment still in the dress she used for her wedding, a silver sequin cocktail dress. Estrella Carrera was pronounced dead. She had two children, one of them was Jimenez’ son.

CBS reported that Jimenez contacted his sister the same day stating they had gotten in a fight and he left her bleeding. He hung up and would not answer her calls when she tried calling him back. There was record of domestic violence in their relationship. He was jealous and possessive and had previously been arrested for the same in a different case.

He was last seen driving a black 2006 Maserati. This vehicle was later found by federal investigators in his brothers garage. Investigators found blood and other physical evidence in the vehicle. His brother was arrested. Additional evidence showed he traveled with the suspect to a Texas town hear the Mexican border on May 13, 2012 the day Estrella was found dead. It is believed Jimenez killed her in the vehicle then moved her in to the bathtub.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Investigators tracked Jimenez’s cellphone from Chicago to Tennessee to Arkansas and finally to Texas, according to an FBI affidavit. The phone was last used May 13, 2012, in Hidalgo, Texas, near the Mexican border. The affidavit said Jimenez was born in Texas and owned property in Pharr, Texas.

OBITUARY Estrella I. Carrera, age 26. Loving mother of Gennavy D. Sanchez and Demain L. Jimenez. Beloved daughter of Antonio Carrera and the late Antonia nee Rios. Fond sister of Victor H. Rubio, Claudia, Jazmin, and Edgar A. Carrera. Cherished aunt of Jailene Quiroz and Adan N. Moreno. Friends are asked to meet at St. Rita of Cascia Church, 6243 South Fairfield Avenue, Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, May 19, 2012 for a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial Interment St. Mary Cemetery, 87th and Hamlin Avenue, Evergreen Park, Illinois. Tonight, 2/8/2020 I sent a tweet to John Walsh in hopes of him bring attention to Estrella’s case on his new show “In Pursuit” which took over from his “America’s Most Wanted”. One can only hope that after eight years they can get this guy off the streets. It seems clear his assaults did not begin with Estrella and my fear is that will not be his last. Domestic violence is real. It’s not easy to leave, but leaving is the only option to safety. Please. If you are in a violent relationship tell someone. Save yourself, your children, and know that you can survive. You deserve better. You are better. Your family and friends love you. Please. Get. Out.
