Military Veteran Edward "Ed" Hataway, 61, who lived in an apartment above D.C. Sales in Olney, Illinois, was serving as bartender for a reunion at the Olney Knights of Columbus on Sunday evening, September 16, 2012. He was seen leaving the event at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Ed's landlord spoke with him shortly after 8 p.m. that evening as Ed was going to mow the next morning for his landlord. He has never been seen or heard from again. The landlord began making phone calls and searching for Ed. He found his truck parked outside with his slippers in the parking lot, his apartment unlocked and his cell phone inside the apartment.
Ed was reported missing four days later on September 20, 2012. Ed lived by himself and the family spoke to him often, but on this week it had been four days before realizing he was missing.
November 7, 2012 a body was found in a drainage ditch on Cahokia Trace Road in Red Hills State Park, Lawrence County, Illinois about fourteen miles from his residence.
