***UPDATE*** It is with an incredibly heavy heart, we must report that Cosette Marie Brown, was located and is deceased. Cosette was a young 48 years old when she was last seen November 18, 2020 in Peoria, Illinois. Our deepest condolences to her family and all those who know and love her.
Per the Peoria Police Department Missing Person *UPDATE* PPD Incident #20-23033
'Brown was last seen on November 18, 2020 in the area of Western and Lincoln. Family members report last speaking with Brown over the phone on November 19, 2020.'
Peoria PD update 12/2/2020 Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division have learned additional information pertinent to this investigation.
What is known: Brown talks to her family nearly every day - that activity has stopped.
Brown has not returned home since she was reported missing. Her phone is off.
Brown is a lifelong resident of South Peoria and spends the majority of her time in South Peoria, yet she has not been seen in over a week.
Brown was last known to be wearing her hair in long braids but does change her hairstyle frequently including wearing shorter styles.
Brown commonly goes by the nickname “Cricket”.
Detectives and Brown’s family are concerned for Brown’s welfare due her daily pattern of life coming to an abrupt stop. At this time, this is a missing person investigation; foul play has not been ruled out.
Peoria Police would like to speak with anyone who has seen or spoken with Brown after November 17, 2020.

UPDATE 3/18/2021 Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 4 was requested by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a death investigation in Naples, Illinois.
Thursday, March 18, 2021, an unidentified body was located in the Illinois River just south of Naples. ISP Zone 4 Agents responded to the scene to collect evidence and interview witnesses.
An autopsy was conducted by the Scott County Coroner’s Office. The cause and manner of death have yet to be determined.
The body has been identified as missing person Cosette Brown. PPD Criminal Investigations Detectives will be assisting ISP DCI Zone 4 Investigators in the death investigation of Cosette Brown. ISP Zone 4 was assisted by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County Coroner’s Office, ISP District 20, ISP Crime Scene Services, the Morgan County Dive Team, Meredosia Fire Department and the Bluffs Fire Department.
